The designer top from Debenhams did not appear yesterday. I took the original faulty top back to Debenhams on Wednesday and they promised they would send another “next day delivery”. They lied! Nothing. It was for my sister’s birthday, what a let down.

I have raised a complaint with “Resolver”. Along with that, we had a couple of oranges last night that I bought in Tesco 2 days ago, one was rotten at the bottom. From now on I will be using the farm shop and I am not wasting any more of my time returning this after this weeks episode. Too many things have been cut with companies, one of them being customer service.

Things aint what they used to be!

We walked Ellie and then Mal went straight to the allotment to plant more beans.

In the afternoon I went to have my hair cut. It is a really nice hairdressers I go to in Deal. Katy who owns it does my hair and she is up for “Hairdresser of the Year award”.

I had a message from Resolver/Debenhams, quite frankly Debenhams couldn’t give a s**t!!   No apology, just contact us if it doesn’t come in 2 days!! Needless to say I have replied and had a standard reply saying they are closed at weekends!

We took Ellie for a dry walk and just arrived back in time before the heavens opened.

Mal went to the allotment in the afternoon when the rain had stopped. He is feeling a lot better….plenty of fresh air!

I had a wet walk with Ellie. Mal stayed indoors as he still has “man flu” but I have to say the symptoms seem to be going very quickly. I then went to Westwood. Firstly to return some rotten apples to Tesco that I bought at the weekend. Two packs and four bad apples! I only took one of the packages and three apples and so she would only give me refund on one pack. In fact even that was too much trouble. They were for dessert for the BBQ on Monday so I had been really annoyed, even more so by the time I arrived home today! I told her she could check on my clubcard how many I bought. She said she couldn’t and it was my fault I only took one back! I know now why people just bin rotten food that should still be in date and fresh.

Next I had ordered a really nice top from Debenhams which arrived by post. It had a catch right in the front of it! The assistant in there was very nice. They didn’t have one in store so she would get one sent out next day delivery for me. I then told her I wasn’t pleased having to drive all that way when it was their fault. The Manager came and he gave me a credit note for £5. Much better service.

When I arrived home I phoned Tesco customer service. I was told the assistant followed “correct procedures” but he didn’t agree with her attitude. As I said, maybe the whole consignment were bad and I was trying to be helpful. After quite a battle he emailed me £2 to cover the cost of the second pack of apples and £5 for my trouble. Maybe that was after I said I would be going to Sainsbury instead! He didn’t really care anyway.

I wish I could just buy things and they were as they should be. Most people I know just can’t be bothered!

I had lunch with the Red Hatters. Thirteen of us today, our chapter is growing!

My philosophy in life is “Pay it forward” and I managed it today.

Wow what an entertaining game of football in the evening. I have to say Spurs weren’t looking too good in the first half but I guess Pocho had a good team talk half time and they are now through to the final. YEAH!!!!! All down to a 96th minute goal. Very exciting.

We took Ellie out and then prepared the garden for a BBQ and I made all the salads to go with it.

Lou and Rhys, Ollie Oscar and Josie came round and also Sol and Millie. Grandad did a very good job with the food but again we had far too much. It was nice to see Sol as it is his 21st this week. I gave him his presents and he started talking about past events and so I suggested he opened one of our presents (the photo album we made him) . I am pleased to say he loved it. Well worth spending all those hours Mal and I doing it. We had a lovely afternoon.

We took Ellie out, a walk across the fields first and then into the town to look at the “Sandwich Salutes the 40’s weekend”. The weather wasn’t good the previous day, so better to have a wander around today.

Neither Mal nor I think there was too much to celebrate in the 40’s but people really get into it all and it is becoming very popular. This time last year we were walking around in sun tops!

I drove down to the butchers in Birchington to get a lot of meat for a BBQ. I then went to Westwood, it was really cold.  I am considering having my groceries delivered as I have a problem with my wrist and lifting things isn’t helping. Mal keeps telling me I should order groceries online. Meanwhile Mal walked Ellie.

In the afternoon we went to see Mal’s nieces who we haven’t seen for a long while. His ex sister in law came along too. It was nice to see them all. Later Tris and Violet arrived and we went and had some dinner which was very quick as we had to get home for Ellie.
