It was 25 degrees yesterday, good for April but it has cooled down today. Ellie and I walked to the allotment with Mal, here he is armed with his tools and potatoes ready to go in!

We walk straight out of our garden and through all the orchards. Suddenly with two days of sun, most of the blossom has gone from the fruit trees and fruit is becoming visible. Nature always amazes me.

Meanwhile Ellie is back to normal and playing ball.

We watched an interesting debate in the evening on TV. Farage is so pompous! No cons, no lib dems present!

There was an earthquake in Cyprus.

What a lovely day in the UK. High temperatures and just the sort of day to sit in the garden with Ellie. She has found her favourite spot in the shade.

We had our lunch and then went to the walk behind Canterbury Golf Club. Our intention was to go on to the blue bell woods but Ellie got so hot, we decided to do that another day. She really doesn’t like the heat.

Amazingly, the Turkish Lira has now hit four to the pound!

I am appalled that once again the Cons are going to sell off the family silver. This happened with Maggie T when I was working for a Housing Association. This country needs affordable housing. What many people don’t know is that Maggie promised to “ring fence” the money…it was not!

I dropped Mal off at number 1 allotment in Garlinge, along with a lot of his seedlings from the greenhouse. Ellie and I went to Minnis Bay and it truly looked like  “Brits at the seaside” on a sunny April day.

It was a lovely walk and so warm. Back to the allotment to collect Mal. A lot more rhubarb!

We missed out on our lunch out, so as Ellie was a lot better and she had a tiring walk at Minnis, we decided to go to The Anchor at Littlebourne. Previously we had a 2 month trial of Tastecard, which allows you 2 for 1 or 50% off meals at many restaurants. It was so good that we paid for a years membership. To make it even more interesting there was a deal  with Groupon at the time and we bought the card for £30! Yesterday alone we covered the cost of the card by eating from their fantastic a la carte menu, the food 50% off. I never quite see the point of paying full price for anything if you can get a reduction!

As I say, everything about this Anchor (not to be confused with our village local Anchor), was great. The food was so good and a really friendly relaxed atmosphere in the pub. I had Bass fillets with Rye Bay scallops. I love fish and that was so good.

Mal had Chargrilled rump and shoulder of lamb. There was also a separate dish of vegetables. It was good!

We saw someone else’s desserts coming out and they looked so good and we couldn’t resist.

Too much food but it was so good!

Mal and I had booked to go out to lunch but Ellie was still having problems, so we couldn’t leave her. No food and just a short walk. Mal walked down to his allotment to plant some potatoes.

I went shopping in the afternoon while Mal looked after Ellie. By the evening we had a bit of a tail wag and she ate a small piece of boiled chicken and rice. Dogs are a little like children. You are just about to take them to the vets when they start on the mend (hopefully).

Mal went to his older allotment to do more digging and Ellie and I went to Minnis Bay. She loves it down there and went mad in the sea and then of course rolled in the sand. It seemed as though she had missed her daily dips but she does roll in the dew in the orchards!  She pads the ball up and down in the sea.

I collected Mal and he brought home a lot of rhubarb again. I had a shock in the week at the farm shop. They are selling it for £5.50 a kilo! I think we have made the money back on the cost of the allotment already! A good thing we like rhubarb.

We have a water problem at the cottage. We were told it was something to do with the water table. The nice guy next door told us that it was because something wasn’t working properly/leaky pipes and so Mal was out with him and a spade and between them they seem to have gone some way toward solving the problem. We are going to see the agents tomorrow, who are managing the property. I don’t think Mal needs to spend another Sunday afternoon up to his knees in mud.

Ellie had a stomach problem, with diarrhoea starting around lunchtime. She woke us up three times during the night wanting to go outside, bless her.

Torin and co were unable to come after all but at least it pushed into sorting out more of the house!

We had decided to take them all next door to Wingham Wildlife Park and as they hadn’t come, we went anyway and bought season tickets. They have two tremendous tigers there,hand reared from 14 days old and  a very large reptile house. Loads of other animals but two very sad rescued lions. We still haven’t really found out which animals make all the groaning noises at night. These can be heard as far as the next village! Yes, it’s a good wildlife park but I have to say it just isn’t the same as Howletts. Wingham is to make money and Howletts is for conversation, breeding and returning to the wild for endangered species.

Some of the offers I receive are so good. Brantano (who sell shoes and bags) currently have 40% off AND FREE Delivery. I just had to try it out and so will have two new pairs of sandals being delivered soon. They sell shoes like Clarks and Lotus, good names.

Dreamland is reopening in Margate. I fear it won’t be quite the place it used to be but let’s hope it brings some visitors to Margate. I hope it is a success as £18 million has been spent on it. A pity they didn’t tidy up the sea front.  Where to go on holiday in June.……according to the World Travel Guide, which includes Margate!

We have chosen our horses for the National, the one time we have a flutter. It will be difficult fro Rhys with River Choice, Soll and Oscar Time!

We went for our walk and then Mal went off to his Wingham allotment. Meanwhile I set to emptying more boxes so that Charlotte and Torin can have somewhere to sleep. Scarlet and Jack’s room is all sorted out.

When Mal came home we decided on a quick trip to Canterbury which we both love and ended up having afternoon tea in Leonora’s Kitchen. Very good it was too but I couldn’t eat all the cakes…Mal did!!
