We went shopping at Ileli. We weren’t sure about any of the fresh meat anywhere, being the last day of Bayram, so opted to use what we already have in the freezer.

Torin has taken Scarlet & Jack fishing and this is his first fish Jack has caught. Well done Jack

It was a beautiful morning and as I was awake so early I went for a long walk, watching the sun rise. I didn’t see another soul! I did meet a few dogs but that was all. What a lovely start to the day.

We spent a long time on the phone to Rhys and co. They are loving their new house and the proximity to the beach and can carry their boat down there. They are obviously making the most of the good weather.

Meanwhile our caravan is booked up, only for family but this summer everyone seems to want to use it. Of course, they all stay there for free and but it is nice for us that it is actually getting used, with the amount of money we have to pay out for it!

Marion Stuart has left Cyprus Star and tells me Soner will be starting up an online newspaper and she suggested that it would be competition for Mals. I hardly think Soner would dare go where NCFP goes!!  He even denied us both membership to Kibkom. I can’t think why.

Well done to Alsancak Beledeysi. We put our rubbish bin out but didn’t expect it to be emptied because of the three day Bayram but yes, they did come and empty it. Impressed!

We went south for the day. Quite a mix of nationalities in the mini bus! We had lunch together and then did some shopping.  Thank you Margaretha for  a really nice day. Just as well we weren’t searched on the way back….Pork chop BBQ in the evening!

Swimming in the morning and then I went to meet Sue at Cafe Boss for our lunch. The roads were even more manic than usual, I guess with their extra half day prior to the three day Bayram.  We had a good catch up as we hadn’t seen each other for ages. Putting the world to rights! A lovely lady and a lovely time.

Cafe Boss do nice salads and freshly squeezed orange juice!

Cyprus Today – it makes me wonder whether it is the same officer who wanted 200tl when the Turkish Cypriot drove into my car but then he seemed to forget all about it when I told him to give me a receipt and I would pay it at the Police Station!!

Yesterday Eight of our grandchildren were together!! My ambition one day is to get all ten of them together and Mal and I with them. I know Tris says he is “game” to bring Violet along, so maybe it will happen another time when we are back in the UK. Nothing is impossible and easier now Rhys and Lou have moved back to England !

Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week are bank holidays for the end of Ramazan (Şeker Bayramı). I understand there is also a half day on Wednesday. So, we decided to go and renew my car insurance today as it is due on Thursday. Off to Steve’s and the renewal was ready. Of course Mal and Steve had their usual banter about getting new strings for their air guitars!

Next,  paid the electricity bill and then on to the market at Lemar. Silly me, that is why they have covered some of the parking spaces…for the market! Ingrid has a stall there selling cakes and we just had to buy some of her delicious apple and cinnamon cakes. They are hard to resist.

We did wonder whether the owner of the land next to Lemar realised his courgette plants were being gobbled up!

It looks as though we had water overnight, the household tank is full.

We noticed an advert in Cyprus Today for Kamares Indian Restaurant in Edremit/Karaoğlanoğlu (the road to Karmi). They have a Sunday lunch “12pm to late” for 25tl. A choice of Indian starters, choice of Indian main courses, choice of Indian & European deserts AND a free drink. We haven’t been there before so decided to give it a try. I have to say we weren’t expecting too much but how wrong were we?! It was excellent.

Pickles and popadoms brought to our table while they took our drinks order and gave us the menus. We were really surprised when we were told you just choose off the main menu! OK, we then expected our main to just be dished up on a plate. None of it. It all came in separate serving dishes with a bowl of rice and nan bread! Good presentation, lovely staff, nice setting and delicious food. None of it was greasy as so many Indian restaurants seem to serve up. Well worth 50tl for the two of us. Actually 55tl as we ordered a large bottle of water too.

You may think not the best choice for Sunday lunch in this heat but they even had fans on the terrace where we were sitting so it was nice and cool.
