Bargains – Brantano  Footwear 20% off everything &  Glasses Direct 30% off & Free Chocs with Valentine Flowers & Remington Hair Straighteners £20

Mal and I both went to have our hair cut at Marcello’s. He always does my hair and has done for many years but Mal goes to a barbers who made an absolute hash of his hair recently and so Marcello sorted it out for him! He did a really good job.

Torin went for a second interview for a job that he really wanted. He was made redundant a year ago and took a job that he really hates, long hours, low pay and having to work weekends too and yes he had to work Boxing Day as well. I spoke to him after he came out of the interview and he said he couldn’t have done any better than he did.

This afternoon he called us to say that he has the job. I am so pleased for him. It will make such a difference to him. Some good news at last!!!

The second piece of good news for the day, Mal’s brother Steve is at long last out of hospital. He must be so happy after so long in hospital.

We went out for a walk and this squirrel certainly looks as if he has been stocking up on his winter grub!

Bargains – The Works 10% off & £29 Premier Inn rooms & 5% discount Interflora

What a cold wind it was all day. We took some things to the tip and then went for a walk, not a very long one because it was bitter.

Mal packed up all his exam work ready to be returned.

In the evening we watched England beat Brazil in the footie.

Having been to Howlets yesterday I thought I would share my favourite you tube clip of Damian.

Bargains – Theatre Tickets under £15 & Half Price Sonicare toothbrush & Valentines Flowers delivered on the day & Avis 15% off car hire

Check out the Avis if you are coming to the UK, they have been very good to us and we even had a free weekend!

We decided to go to Howlets Zoo again for the day as we have our annual pass. What a treat we had when we were there. We hadn’t realised that two of the Siberian Tiger cubs were on the local BBC news last night, it was their first time seen in public and again today the keepers had them out playing with them. The keeper explained that of course, as with other animals there, they hope to get at least one of the cubs back to Russia when he is older. Remember all the  animals at Howlets are endangered species. They have already had a lot of their gorillas returned to the wild in Gabon .

We left Marion’s house after breakfast and drove to London to visit Tris and family. They live in Wood Green, just a stones throw away from where I lived as a child. It was lovely to see Tris and Violet but sadly we didn’t see Amanda as she was working.

Lunchtime Tris suggested we went to a Vegetarian Indian Restaurant in Turnpike Lane that they often go to. Another Indian meal but hey ho, last time we visited they were closed, so we decided we would go. We all had a Thali and unbelievably they were £4 each! (photo). North Cyprus has a lot to learn about their pricing for eating out, remember this is in London!!  If anyone is around that area of North London and wants to try it, it is Jai Shri Krishna, 10 Turnpike Lane N8. I think a cup of tea was about 80p!

Violet fell asleep as we walked back and was still asleep when we had to leave. A lovely visit and all the birthday presents delivered too.

We spoke to all the boys in Cardiff when we were back home.

Bargains – Dorothy Perkins 20% off shoes & 24 carat gold covered rose £13.99 & Thorntons free 150g of chocs & Personalised Heart Trinket Box £12

In the morning we drove to High Wycombe for a stay with Marion, my sister. Wendy, my niece came and saw us in the afternoon with her kids.

We decided that we would go out for a meal in the evening, so I drove and Marion directed me to where to go to eat. Even though we arrived quite early the place was packed out “no room at the inn” for us. Until recently they wouldn’t let you book and evidently unbeknown to Marion, you now can and of course we hadn’t. So we drove on to another place, only to be told they had a function on, so no luck there.

We ended up at the Raj in Hazelmere and I have to say, we were all glad we did as  the food was really good. They were busy in there too but the waiters were running around like mad things, so we still had good service. So, a really nice evening.

Bargains – (Valentines) Arthouse LOVE Canvas £15 & Wireless Weather Station with Barometer £29.99 & Central London Rooms £49 & Cellular Baby Blanket £2.50

I knew that we had another car this weekend from Avis, as it is the one we will return to Stansted. I had difficulty booking it online because as a “preferred” customer they sent me a discount code before they had set their site up for it. I tried changing dates/cars etc. Finally it was easier to check with the Dover office. Well, I was convinced it was tomorrow we were collecting it but thought I had better check the paper work. Good thing I did as it had to be collected TODAY! So we put on our wet weather gear and walked to Manston airport.

We spent the day shopping for forthcoming birthday presents for the family! I have to get organised before we leave.
