After a long stretch of mild weather, I believe a colder snap is starting now with a little frost when we got up. Having said that there is snow on the mountains in North Cyprus!

Mal and I took 3 boxes of books and some other things to his sister’s TAG charity shop in Broadstairs. The idea is to declutter the caravan and then of course we saw some elephants  we liked and bought those! Hopeless. But two of them will sit in the garden.

On the way back we bought more fish from Asda. I do love their packs they seal for you so it is oven ready, along with herbs and butter.

I spoke to my sister and some of Bryan’s golf club friends (who attended the funeral) had a match that day and all the prizes were handed back and the money donated to Action on Bladder Cancer, Marion’s chosen charity instead of flowers. Not only that but towards the end Marion used to drive Bryan to the gold club even though he was too ill to play and he had the same seat where he would watch the golfers coming in from the Fairway. The club is going to put a plaque above that chair and invite Marion, Julie and Wendy for lunch, I guess when they do it. How nice of them. Little things like this mean so much.

We left Marion’s at lunchtime and drove back to the caravan. We stopped at the farm shop on the way as we are fed up with eating Tesco tasteless vegetables. The news on the radio is blaming it on the wet weather but I wonder how the farm shops is tastier?!

In the evening we spoke to the boys in Cardiff. Sol and River were revising and Tariq is just about to choose his options.

A sad day, Bryan’s funeral. Suffice to say that it was a really nice service with a lovely vicar and my admiration goes out to my two nieces Julie and Wendy, one who read a eulogy and the other a poem. I don’t think there was a dry eye and Bryan would have been so proud of his daughters. Rest in Peace.

The wake followed at a pub and then back at Marion’s house. A very long day.

In the evening with just Marion, Mal and I left, Mal decided to go for fish and chips as none of us could be bothered to do anything else. When he came back Marion and I were surprised that he had a cut on his nose. He had walked into the glass door/window at the fish shop! Don’t ask!!

We had booked another Avis car to collect from Manston Airport. What service, Ken rang us and said he would collect us and drive us to the airport for the collection. Avis sale is now on, so well worth making a booking now.

We then packed the car up and drove to my sister Marion’s house.

Happy 60th Birthday to Steve, Mal’s brother who is still in hospital and wishing him a good recovery.

It’s quite cosy in the caravan and I have to say it was warm and so in the morning we decided to go for another soggy walk. It wasn’t until we arrived at the fields that we realised how foggy it was! As they say every picture tells a story. Once again we walked past the huge white dog who always looks at us as we go past.

I had a nice surprise in the afternoon when Sue from Cyprus came on the web cam. It was really nice having a catch up with her.

Later we cleared out the spare bedroom and now everything has its own place at last. We now have four large boxes of books for the charity shop.

We walked to Westwood as we needed some fresh vegetables and on our way it started to drizzle, which I am sure wasn’t forecast but it didn’t really bother us. I think it may have done the Swing Jivers who were performing outside Debenhams! They tried to persuade us to join their socials which seemed quite interesting if we were here! I guess they got quite wet.

Of course later on we watched the Man U v Hammers game…….enough said!

I can’t believe that this week the overnight temperatures are higher in Margate than they are in Kyrenia! Nice. 8’s in Margate and 4’s in Kyrenia. The sun is out again today as well.

Mal and I have been involved with comments from relatives concerning hospital care here in the UK over the last couple of months. Sadly, not nearly as good as it should be, so this article may be of interest to some of you.

We returned our Avis car to Manston airport and then walked back home.

We have met one of our neighbours at the caravan park, a very nice guy who is making alterations on his van and actually is one of the handymen for the park. As he said this is the quietest spot on the park. The caravans either side of us have been empty, perhaps the owners will come in the summer.
