What a lot of rain we had during the night. We took Rosie out and noticed that a small ornamental wall built at the bottom of our reinforced wall had collapsed. The rain had stopped when we took Rosie but everywhere was very muddy.

Todays best bargain I have found is for Debenhams see link. Massive money off, more than I have seen before. Excellent for Christmas presents. How about a £6 car wash for 50p?? see link

Mal and I had planned to meet up with Wendy and Ken Dunn for lunch at The Silver Rocks. I had just received some bad news and so told Mal to go on his own, I really couldn’t face socialising. To my reader who was also down there, sorry to have missed you.

28th Anniversary of the forming of the TRNC

There must have been some very heavy rain during the night. Foolishly we left the cushions on the chairs under the terrace but the rain must have blown under there, so soggy cushions to dry out today. We took Rosie whilst there was a short respite from the rain and then  it soon started again. Log burner alight again!

Not a good day for the anniversary celebrations.

In the evening we had torrential rain and it was so bad that the water started coming down the chimney. Towels down! Then of course we had another power cut.

More rain and a wet walk with Rosie. This time we went into the ravine and up by the Incesu houses that there is so much controversy over. They have just been left to rot, plants coming out of the foundations, large cracks, roof tiles all over the place. The poor people who have paid for these, what a mess. It also looked as if some people have taken the opportunity to use the site as a dump for their rubbish, including an old armchair. This site has been on Homes from Hell but quite honestly I thought it was quite a ‘weak’ programme. Perhaps it had been edited.

It sounds as though the F16 fighter jet is practising overhead for tomorrows fly past. It is for the celebrations to mark the 28th anniversary of the founding of the TRNC.

We spoke to the boys in Cardiff in the evening. They are all doing well. River is going to give a talk on Cyprus for his English presentation. Seeing as he wrote an article on it for NCFP, he is quite knowledgable. I hope it goes well for him.

Then the rain became heavier and heavier and finally of course a power cut.

What a difference a day makes! The temperature had dropped and it was raining. We took Rosie to the beach..the only ones down there! Rough seas and windy but Rosie loved it. If anything the weather will affect her leg but not so far. She is now going on walks we never expected to take her again and she is down to half her pain killer doseage.

We came home and put all the rugs down and the winter duvet on. I also hung all the heavy winter curtains up. Something is not quite right with the weather…it was warmer in the UK! Mal also brought the log basket in and got the log burner ready!

My laptop is beginning to make awful noises and a few other prblems along with that. I think it may be the beginning of the end. Mal took it apart and hoovered a lot of dust out of it …and yes, he did get it back together again! The noise stopped for a while but then started again.

Mal cooked the Sunday roast, a large joint of gammon we brought back with us. We then lit the log burner! Of course Rosie picked her spot right in front of it!!

We had quite a lot of rain overnight, no complaints there, we need it.

Mal and I went to Mr Pound. We went to see if they had any Christmas decorations in there yet and yes they have. We also stocked up on Rosie’s tripe sticks. Sometimes they have them, and then the next time you go they don’t have any, so I buy them when I see them. Today they didn’t have any dog shampoo.

We spotted bargains in Lemar and then on to the vets for Rosie’s pain killers and chondroitin. I am now giving her half a tablet a day instead of one to see how she manages. She still wanted to run this morning.

We heard from Torin again. He is still loving South Africa even though he had a monkey in his hotel room and it took all the sugar.

In the evening we watched ‘An Idiot Abroad’ and then the football. England won.

Another lovely sunny November day.

Ken, who writes for Mal’s newspaper came up to our house. We are publishing a book for him and he has more in the pipeline. He also brought some drawings with him, for a children’s book. He is a very talented artist. It’s quite exciting for him and for us.

I still haven’t managed to do one bit of ironing since I have been back! I seem to be spending so much time bargain hunting but at least people are using the offers, I am pleased to say. see link . One I was quite surprised with is this Laura Ashley one see link. Free delivery too!

It’s certainly getting chillier in the evenings and in the distance we could see a storm out at sea.

After our walk in the mountains we called down to see Bev and Gary. Bev has her dad staying with her at the moment and he was outside enjoying the sun. It was nice to see them. We haven’t seen them for such a long time, we all seem to have such busy lives. How did any of us manage to have a ‘job’ as well?!

We heard from Torin in the evening and he has fallen in love with South Africa. Coincidently he is staying in a place called Margate and Ramsgate is just a short distance away. Obviously where a lot of Brits landed! He keeps on about the white sand, blue sea and he said it is the best food anywhere in the world he has been and he has been to quite a lot of places. I think he was making Mal very envious talking of the huge juicy succulent steaks. In fact Torin said if he didn’t have the twins he would move there tomorrow! Mal now wants to save our pennies and go there for a holiday!! It was one of my dads favourite places (visited on the way back from the war) and he always promised to take my mum there when they retired. Sadly he only had 6 weeks of retirement and then passed away, so they never managed it. I hope Mal and I will be luckier.

In the evening we watched the last two episodes of Downton Abbey. It has been a good series. My sister’s friends daughter in law to be plays Anna, the ladies maid in it.
