Mal and I went to Lambousa market in the morning. It was as busy as ever.  We bought two more decorated tiles.

We watched the Man u game in the afternoon, an easy win for them. Grand National, our horse came second and we only backed it for first place. We weren’t meant to be rich!

Later we watched the latest episode of ‘Jamie’s Dream School’. It gets frustrating watching some of the kids on there and they obviously don’t realise it may be the only chance like this they will possibly ever have.

We decided as the weather is still unpredictable that we would paint the hall and lounge. The main problem was moving the dresser. It was heavy! A few spiders had made their homes behind it. I am sure they will find somewhere else to locate. I can never kill the spiders as they help us out with the mozzies in the summer.

Job done and it all looks much fresher now.

It didn’t rain at all.

Rhys’s 36th Birthday today, Happy Birthday Rhys. Gosh that makes me feel old and he is my youngest son! I rang him and he sounds very pleased with his present of an I- pad from Lou. One of the pleasures of having his own business, he was only working in the  morning and then going out to lunch and having the rest of the day off.

They had a BBQ yesterday because the weather was so good (in Wales!!) A cloudy miserable morning here in the TRNC but it seems all this will change in two days. Meanwhile I was out in the garden “snail catching”, along with the rains came the snails and they  just love to eat my plants.

At lunchtime we went down to Açmenya market. It is a fairly new market which I can guess will get bigger over the weeks. It starts at 1.00pm. Most of the stalls were inside (owing to the weather). You can have lunch there and it is 10tl or two meals for 15tl. Mal and I thought we would give it  a go and glad that we did. We both had the roast pork. It was very good. We managed to eat outside, just finished when the rain started.

Rhys and co were on the web cam in the evening, he was trying out Skype on his I-Pad!

We went shopping in the morning and paid the bills. Cyprus Today was just about as exciting as the midweek edition gets  see link It was a lovely morning, in fact a bit wasted on shopping. We arrived back home and had lunch outside and a game of cards outside……then the heavens opened.

Mal sat reading “Aphrodites Killers” which he brought back from the UK. David had told me that the last chapter was to be “the solution” but sadly he passed away before the talks have come to a conclusion. see link

Back in the Uk the weather was so nice Lou and Rhys were having a BBQ!

No rain during the day even though it was forecast. It is peculiar weather at the moment. The Uk seems to be getting better weather than us. We had our lunch outside and enjoyed the sun.

My follow up appointment at the dentist was in the afternoon. We were meeting Margaretha in Lefkosa as she wanted to go to the dentist too and wasn’t sure where it was. So, we met up and she went through all the procedures for a new patient at Near East University. I went in to have my gums checked again. The professor said it was fine, did a bit more cleaning and he said he would see me again in 6 months. It had rained on the way to Lefkosa and the rain continued for the rest of the evening.

An interesting article in NCFP see link To say I am gobsmacked is an understatement. In fact I read it twice to see whether I had misunderstood something.  Apart from anything else, Mal and I were at the very first meeting of HBPG over 5 years ago. Since that time I can’t see anything on the housing market has improved.

I quote “This is to discuss the current problems within the residential property market which have had a disastrous effect on the local economy and have forced the government to implement its current austerity measure.”

It sounds as though the austerity measures are all our fault, after the vast amount of money we have all invested in this country. Make up your own minds!

It was another miserable day weatherwise. I wasn’t too impressed with Mothers Day either, the boys 2,000 miles away and my own Mother passed away. It was helped by them all coming on the webcam. I had received one card and the other is on its way.  I did appreciate all the time on the web cam. Mal offered to go out for lunch but I didn’t feel like it.
