We took Ellie to the orchards for a long walk. For the first time ever the farmer came and told us we were not keeping to the footpaths and to put Ellie on a lead. They have never bothered before and we have always stopped and chatted to the pickers. We only saw three pickers today. A sign of the times and obviously the farmer is worried people are going to be stealing his apples. If the maps hadn’t all faded and the footpath signs removed (carried out by many a wealthy landowner) we would know exactly where to walk but the boundaries of the orchards have always been OK until today!
I guess the lack of pickers is the foreigners not coming. The apples are all ready, some are being picked. As usual loads just left on the ground to rot.
Lou and Rhys gave me a very generous gift voucher for my birthday. They know how I love fish and so the voucher was for Whits of Walmer. We had been waiting until September when they started their tasting menu again. Wow, was it good?!
I am pleased we chose the tasting menu as their full menu would be difficult to choose from, so many lovely things.
The food was just A1. We would certainly go again.
