Ellie and I were up and out at 6.30 for our walk, I didn’t think Mal would be up to it, so left him in bed.

I was rather disappointed to find this notice as I went towards the river….

I didn’t shorten the walk though.

Later Mal and I went into Deal and then walked round to MY new allotment, well it will be from 1st January.  We couldn’t find it at first and thought it couldn’t possibly be the one with the two greenhouses and shed…….yes, it was! Wow and it is twice the size of Mals, so I need some little helpers ,Ollie, Oscar and Josie and Lou said she wants to help too. It’s getting exciting, there will be enough room to take Ellie round there.

We are going to be busy!!

I was up at 6.30 and took Ellie out. Yes, it was still dark but I started along Rope Walk where there are street lights. I had to do it before going to Demelza as Mal wasn’t up to it. I was back about 8, by which time it was light. Mal is dosing himself up with pain killers and said he was OK for me to go to work.

We were quite busy, even sold a wedding dress but Canterbury was manic. I decided the reason it was so busy was because all the men were shopping (a rare sight!)

I have an allotment!!!!! The allotment  people where Mal has his wrote to everyone saying there was one vacant and no one on the waiting list and asking if they knew of anyone interested. As Mal has handed over three patches of his to Ollie, Oscar and Josie, I suggested I have one and we can all share. Mal didn’t think they would agree even with us having different surnames (one per family maybe?) He told them I was his wife and we hadn’t heard until today and I am now the proud owner of number 32! Well, I will be in 2020. I have yet to see what state it is in.

Mal has done something to his back and is taking pain killers. Like me, he hates taking them. As everywhere is so muddy round here, I decided to take some of the things needed for Christmas day around to Rhys’s.  Who knows how much Mal will be able to carry on the day. As they have gone to see Lou’s dad today, I took Ellie and Roddy for a long walk along the beach.

In fact it was a winter like this when Mal and I made the decision to move to warmer, drier ‘climes’ and set off for north Cyprus! It had been day after day, week after week wearing wellies for dog walks and muddy dogs coming home.

In the afternoon we watched two rubbish matches, Man Utd which was followed by Spurs…both losing!

Mal ended up in bed because he thought he has trapped a nerve and has a job moving. Oh dear.

I was up early and out shopping again, all presents bought now and I spent the afternoon wrapping.

Yeah, it is the 21st December….now we are heading for Spring and the evenings will start getting lighter. We are over the darkest part.

Late afternoon we went to the cemetery and put some Christmas flowers for Torin.

We took Ellie out in the rain and continued our walk to White Mill. I had to collect a birthday present that was being made for me, well for a grand daughter! We chatted to Katie there, who had made the present and the heritage centre are having problems with their website. Yes, you guessed it, Mal has volunteered to help them.

I then went shopping, specific things I need food wise. So, the Sandwich bypass is closed, the traffic queues are horrendous and when eventually I reached Westwood there were queues everywhere.  There were even queues at the petrol station. Nightmare.

Ellie walked and then I planted some more bulbs and did a bit more cutting back in the garden. I hope the bulbs don’t rot as some of Mal’s allotment yesterday was under water! I was then back to wrapping Christmas presents.

Early evening the sky was stunning.

It was the Demelza Christmas dinner. Last year we had about 20 attending, this year far fewer with three even losing their deposits, unable to attend due to illness at the last minute. So, just 7 of us but we had a good time. A nice cosy group and it also meant we could talk to everyone!

We took Ellie to Stone Bay. It wasn’t raining but it was really cold. Ellie doesn’t care she loves going in the sea.

We have obviously been having far too much rain as there are burst pipes which has forced major road closures around Sandwich and there are talks suggesting it will not be complete until at least 20th. Meanwhile chaos!
