Wednesday 2nd June 2021

We were up early and took Ellie with us to the allotment. A lot of watering to be done and Mal wanted to clear the path in my allotment and extend the planting beds. He did the heavy work while I watered all of my allotment.

I picked more rhubarb for our neighbours.

We then went to Mal’s allotment, where there are so many strawberries, lots of other things starting to race ahead because the sun is now here. I picked some irises to take to Torin’s grave.

Mal watered everything while Ellie found her shady place in his orchard. So many strawberries which will have to be netted as they are just turning to red.

In the afternoon I painted some more in the garden and went to the cemetery. On the way back I bumped into Eleanor and Phil who ran the Phoenix Centre. Sadly as trustees they made the heartbreaking decision to close it down at the end of this month. They have been running it successfully for 17 years and were even presented with awards. They still had bills to pay during Covid and it appears Sandwich town council are not interested, we are the wrong side of the tracks. They would rather spend over £1million  on the Guild Hall forecourt than help the people in the south of Sandwich. That is so sad as Eleanor and Phil helped so many underprivileged. Sadly that is the way this country is going. The divide is getting bigger.

An un inspiring England friendly game in the evening.

Thought for the Day – “Train your mind to see the good in every situation.”
